What obligations do the Central and State Governments have under the Act?

Central and State Governments have various obligations under the Act:

  • Improve access to and frame welfare schemes for protected persons.
  • Develop age-appropriate, gender-sensitive, non-stigmatising and non-discriminatory HIV-related information, education and communication (IEC).
  • Specify guidelines for the provision of HIV-related IEC before marriage and ensure their wide dissemination.
