Do I have a right to HIV treatment?

The fundamental right to life has been interpreted to include the right to health, which encompasses access to medication. The HIV Act also requires both Central and State Governments to provide, as far as possible, HIV diagnostic facilities, Anti-retroviral Therapy (ART), and treatment for other infections that arise due to HIV (opportunistic infections). The government must also issue guidelines on treatment protocols and ensure they are widely known.
