What are Risk Reduction Strategies?

They are strategies to promote actions or practices that reduce risk of HIV exposure or its adverse impact. They include provision/ use of: 

  • Information, education, communication and counselling services relating to the prevention of HIV and safe practices.
  • Safer sex tools such as condoms.
  • Drug substitution and drug maintenance.
  • Comprehensive injection safety requirements.
