What rights do children living with or affected by HIV have?

Apart from the general protections that all protected persons have under the law (including non-discrimination, confidentiality, and informed consent requirements), children living with or affected by HIV have certain other rights, including to:

  • Reside in and use a shared household without discrimination;
  • receive government-provided care, support, and treatment;
  • have their property protected;
  • attend school without being denied admission;
