The Act permits Registered Medical Practitioners to conduct abortion legally up to 24 weeks under the circumstances specified in the Act. After 24 weeks, abortion can be conducted where it is necessary to save the life of the pregnant person, or in case of significant foetal abonormalities. For other grounds beyond 24 weeks, abortion requires the permission of the High Court.
